Weekly reflection 5/10 - 5/15

Over the past two weeks I have been able to complete 4 collages and have works for over 30 hours in the past 5 days! The first day was mainly about finding a routine and realizing that we get to make our own schedules and it is on us to make sure that we get our job completed by the end of the day. I really enjoy being in Slocumb during this time because it is such a laid back atmosphere yet everyone around you is working hard and keeping their focus it makes you do the same thing. My mentor, Corby, has let me be independent with my project but reminds me that he is always there to help whenever I need it. He lets me decide when I can come in, what my goals are and how I plan out my collages.

Everyday kind of looks that same because I have to go through the same steps to complete my collages. Either heading over to the library to print out images first thing or going straight to Slocumb to start cutting images and glueing them on. The most time consuming part of this whole process has been cutting images because I like to make sure that they all have a perfect shape. For me the fun part is when I place all of the images in their spots to get a better feel of what the final product will look like.

Since I had six canvases already, my first six collages were being sold for $25, but starting Monday Corby is going to help me make more canvases and since that will take more time I will be raising the prince to $35. The rest of the week will be looking a lot like last week with my process of creating the collages. I have about 6 more collages to complete, but have already gotten more request. Unfortunately I am not sure if I will be able to complete all of them with the remaining time of senior project so I may have to take some time in the beginning of summer to work on them and then ship the collages out!
